General

This agreement concerns all personal data captured and stored by Prediki. In general, Prediki seeks to minimise the capture of personal information on a need-to-know basis, i.e. stores such data necessary for the various functional processes of Prediki as well as for pertinent legal requirements. Further, a number of funtions are available on an anonymous basis to allow the contribution of information without fear of repercussions.

Types of users

Prediki has been designed in large parts as a free and open system, and seeks to minimise access barriers. An exeption to this are Confidential Questions where access is restricted to the Question Owner and persons explicitly invited by the Question Owner..

Visitors

Many functions of Prediki's public sections are fully open to "Visitors", dispensing with the need to register or login. Such functions include -- in large parts -- the inputting of text for articles and messages or comments as well as the viewing of predictions and analyses. Visitors utilising such functions are identified internally via their IP-address.

Participants

"Participants" are registered users, identified by their chosen username. During registration, participants must verify their personal e-mail address via a hyperlink sent by e-mail. Prediki's log-in procedure is protected by a password, again chosen by the user. Participants may elect to remain logged-in permanently, in which case a cookie is saved on the user's access device. Participants should keep their password and cookie confidential. Access to the trading and sponsoring functions requires the prior verification of a mobile access code sent to the participant's personal cell phone (two-factor security).

Scope of the Privacy Policy

Apart from Prediki's primary functions, i.e. the crowdsourcing of analysis and predictions, personal information is captured for the following secondary purposes:

  • Compiling of usage and activity statistics
  • Tracing and solving of technical problems

As an open system, Prediki is exposed to a number of risks. Personal data is therefore also used as protection against abuse:

  • Attributing operations to a certain user
  • Defense against abuse and manipulation
  • Impeding vandalism and disruptive operations
  • Detecting of multiple registrations
  • Ensuring civil behaviour

Prediki has a strict policy of not providing personal information to third parties, with the following two exeptions:

  1. Upon rightful demand, Prediki may have to provide a participant's personal information to the authorities. However, Prediki will always verify the lawfulness of such requests and will seek to inform the affected participant prior to information release.
  2. Prediki's payment processes require the identification of the user to the payment service provider.

Technical limitations

The protection of users' privacy is of high importance to Prediki. This Privacy Policy and a variety of technical precautions aim at protecting personal information as good as reasonably possible. Nonetheless, Prediki cannot guarantee that personal information remains confidential in all possible scenarios. We are aware that despite our efforts, third parties or organisations with advanced technical capabilities (such as data mining, hacking, etc.) could be able to obtain and to use personal data illicitly.
