Beginning in 1963, students under the direction of faculty advisors have traveled to New York City every four years to purchase contemporary art for the Mark H. Reece Collection of Student-Acquired Contemporary Art. This revered tradition has empowered three generations of students to amass a premier collection of contemporary art. As progressive and radical as it was in 1963, the students’ charge has remained consistent over six decades and 16 art-buying trips: to purchase artworks that reflect the times. Currently every three years a group of Wake Forest students travels to New York to purchase artwork. This was one of the years that students traveled to New York to purchase artwork and the reveal of what art the group bought is going to be on April 19th. How the market will expire: There is a live event for the reveal of what artwork was purchased on April 19th at 5:00 P.M. There is also going to be a recorded version.
